An event dedicated to the achievements of Armenian schoolchildren who successfully participated in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), was held with the participation of RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Anna Babajanyan, and Deputy Ministers of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence Gevorg Mantashyan and Tatev Aslanyan.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Anna Babajanyan congratulated the winning students on their outstanding results at the international Olympiad, noting that this achievement marks the beginning of their path to further success. She expressed confidence that the students would approach each new challenge with even greater preparation and enthusiasm.

Anna Babajanyan urged the schoolchildren never to doubt their abilities, to pursue innovative initiatives, and to remain steadfast in working toward their goals. She also expressed her gratitude to the teachers, parents, and the entire team for their dedication, support, and tangible achievements.

The event was also attended by students who had performed successfully in school subject olympiads—specifically, those who achieved high results in informatics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and other natural science and technology-related fields.

The event featured a panel discussion on the achievements and outstanding results of Armenian schoolchildren who participated in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). The Armenian IOAI participants shared their experience, journey, and achievements, and had the opportunity to engage with technology-sector professionals, representatives of government institutions, and members of the education community.

The event aimed to highlight the international achievements of Armenian schoolchildren, encourage their further professional development, and foster greater interest among young people in artificial intelligence, high technologies, and STEM fields.

It should be noted that Armenian students have participated in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence for the second consecutive year. The national organizer of Armenia’s participation is the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST).

Armenian schoolchildren won two bronze medals at this year’s International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, from August 2 to 8. This year, Armenia was represented by two teams, each consisting of four students—the maximum number of participants permitted per team at the IOAI.

The Olympiad consisted of three stages: a home stage comprising three tasks; a team stage featuring two rounds of tasks, including a simulation task and a task involving the Galbot robot; and an individual stage comprising six AI-related tasks.

The Armenian team was formed through a national selection round organized by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), the officially accredited representative of the IOAI in Armenia, with 170 students from all regions of Armenia competing for a place on the national team.

The national team included six participants from the “Generation AI” program, one participant from the Physics and Mathematics Specialized School, and one participant from the “Photon” School. The team achieved Armenia’s best-ever result at the IOAI to date: five of the eight participants received an official award or recognition.

Three members of the team had also participated in last year’s Olympiad in Beijing, with one of them winning a bronze medal in the individual competition

In addition to the individual competition, Armenia also participated in the team competition, where it placed 5th out of approximately 120 teams with a score of 97 points, finishing behind only the teams from New Zealand, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, and Spain.

Pursuant to the order of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, students who won bronze medals (Aram Amirkhanyan and Razmik Yepremyan) will receive scholarships for a period of one year, in recognition of their outstanding performance at the international Olympiad.
