Both Armenia’s men’s and women’s national chess teams have won bronze medals in Group A at the 46th Chess Olympiad, held in Uzbekistan, finishing third in their respective sections.

Armenian chess players also secured individual medals.

Mariam Mkrtchyan scored 9 points out of a possible 11 to win a silver medal on the second board.

Shant Sargsyan scored 8 points out of a possible 11 to win a bronze medal on the third board.

Armenia’s men’s national team was represented by Grandmasters Haik Martirosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Shant Sargsyan, Gabriel Sargsyan and Manuel Petrosyan. The team’s coach is Arman Pashikyan.

Armenia’s women’s national team was represented by International Master Lilit Mkrtchyan, Women’s Grandmaster Mariam Mkrtchyan, Grandmaster Elina Danielian, Women’s International Master Susanna Gaboyan and Anahit Mkrtchyan. The team’s coach is Zaven Andriasyan.
