RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan, received today Sebastien Gillot, Director of WADA’s European Office and Relations with the Sport Movement.
The meeting focused on the activities of the Anti-Doping Agency of Armenia and issues related to promoting clean sport.

In this context, particular importance is attached to ensuring that the national anti-doping agency operates in accordance with international standards. According to the Minister, steps have been taken in recent months to improve the working conditions and infrastructure necessary for the agency’s effective operation.
The agency has been provided with new premises at the Armenian State Institute of Physical Education and Sport, creating new opportunities for cooperation and productive work, including access to the university’s infrastructure, the organization of workshops and educational activities, and greater engagement of young people and students in promoting the principles of clean sport.
Highlighting the importance of efficient cooperation between the national anti-doping agency and the state-authorized body, Sebastien Gillot thanked the Ministry for its support and noted that he had already visited the agency’s new premises.
It was noted that the agency’s activities are fully funded through the state budget, while additional funding is provided for the organization of major international tournaments and championships.
The parties also discussed major sporting events recently held in Armenia and those scheduled to take place in the coming period, emphasizing the importance of an effective anti-doping system in the context of such events. It was noted that the Anti-Doping Agency of Armenia recently provided full anti-doping services for the Tour of Armenia 2026, an international professional multi-stage cycling race.
In 2027, Armenia will host the 10th Francophone International Sports and Cultural Games, where the agency’s role will likewise be of particular importance.
Sebastien Gillot emphasized that hosting major international sporting events provides Armenia with an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to clean sport and integrity. He also reaffirmed WADA’s willingness to support the further development of Armenia’s anti-doping system and the capacity-building of its specialists.
