COP17 Green Zone showcases youth initiatives and projects

October 23, 2026

The ESCS Ministry’s pavilion in the COP17 Green Zone was dedicated to youth initiatives today. ESCS Deputy Minister Krystyna Tatarian visited the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex to learn about the activities taking place at the pavilion.

Among the initiatives presented was ‘A Second Life for Paper’, a project by the Gyumri Youth Centre highlighting Armenia’s endemic plant and animal species. Pavilion visitors can also learn about two winning projects from the Ministry’s ‘100 Ideas for Armenia’ competition: ‘Healing Beeswax Bandages’ and ‘A Robot for Detecting Gas Leaks in Gas Pipelines’.

Deputy Minister Krystyna Tatarian spoke with the young project creators about the progress of their initiatives and opportunities to ensure their sustainability, emphasizing their potential to make a meaningful contribution to public life.

The Deputy Minister also learned about the ‘I Promise…’ project by the ‘Ararat’ Youth Centre and the ‘Fingerprint Team’ social entrepreneurship initiative, through which young people create various items from paper and fabric waste. She also explored Mariam Mkrtchyan’s social entrepreneurship project, which involves making magnets from waste materials.

The Artashat and Armavir youth centres also presented their initiatives at the pavilion.

As part of the day’s program, ESCS Deputy Minister Krystyna Tatarian and Alexandra Cole, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia, attended a panel discussion entitled ‘Empowering the Next Generation: Youth Leadership Across Borders’, featuring university students and researchers.

The Ministry’s pavilion will once again focus on youth-related initiatives on October 28.
