October 08, 2026

The Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia were officially inaugurated with a gala concert by the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra at the Zakaria Paliashvili Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. The program is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia.

Congratulating the audience on the launch of the Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia, RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, noted that the centuries-old friendship between Armenia and Georgia is rooted not only in their shared regional context, geographical proximity, and historical ties, but also in strong human connections, mutual respect, and a rich cultural dialogue.

“This year, the Republic of Armenia celebrates the 35th anniversary of its independence. Upholding its rich traditions of identity and cultural legacy, our country has continued to develop and present itself to the world through the diversity of its culture and its creative potential.

The past decades have been an important period in the development of relations between our two countries and the strengthening of mutual cooperation. Today, these relations, elevated to the level of strategic partnership, encompass numerous areas, with culture holding a special place in this cooperation by creating opportunities for direct interaction and mutual understanding among individuals, societies, and creative communities.

“The Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the cultural identity of contemporary Armenia, our traditional and contemporary arts, our legacy, and the creative potential that continues to shape and enrich Armenian culture today,” the Minister stated, expressing her gratitude to Georgia’s Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia, and other partners for organizing the event.

Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Ashot Smbatyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia, and Natia Shamatava, Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia.

Natia Shamatava emphasized the centuries-old friendship between Armenia and Georgia, their shared cultural values, and the longstanding tradition of cooperation in arts. She reiterated the Georgian Ministry of Culture’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in music, theatre, cinema, cultural heritage preservation, and other fields.

The concert program featured works by Aram Khachaturian, Zakaria Paliashvili, and Antonín Dvořák, performed by the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Eduard Topchjan, with cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan as a guest soloist.

Among those attending the event were Giorgi Volski, First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Culture, members of the Armenian delegation, representatives of the Armenian community, and invited guests.
