A delegation led by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who arrived in Armenia to attend the Leaders’ Summit on Biodiversity, held ahead of COP17, visited the Matenadaran.

Accompanied by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan, the high-level guest explored exceptional examples of Armenia’s manuscript heritage on display at the Matenadaran Museum.

At the conclusion of the visit, António Guterres made an entry in the Matenadaran’s guestbook, writing:

“I express my deepest gratitude to all the women and men whose work has contributed to preserving and developing this exceptional treasury of Armenian culture and history, for the benefit of the Armenian people and the cultural heritage of the entire world.”
