Minister of Sport and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad Donyamali, who is in Armenia on an official visit, visited several sports and educational institutions today to familiarize himself with their infrastructure and discuss prospects for developing bilateral cooperation.

Accompanied by Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and Diaspora Affairs of RA MoESCS, Arkadi Papoyan, Director of the Sports Management Centre Khoren Zargaryan, and General Secretary of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Edgar Petrosyan, the Iranian Minister first visited the FFA Technical Centre–Football Academy, where he familiarized himself with the training facilities. The parties discussed opportunities to advance cooperation in football and exchange professional expertise.

Ahmad Donyamali subsequently visited the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport. Khalil Shirgholami, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, also attended the visit.

The Institute’s Rector Tigran Simonyan, presented its educational and research activities, with particular emphasis on the Sport Lab research centre, where studies are conducted in sports physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation science.

The distinguished guest toured the wrestling, judo, weightlifting, and artistic gymnastics halls to learn about the training facilities and conditions.

The parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in sports education, science, and research, emphasizing the importance of exchanging professional expertise, implementing joint research projects, and organizing workshops and educational events.

As part of his visit, Iran’s Minister of Sport and Youth also met with representatives of the Anti-Doping Agency of Armenia. Discussions focused on doping prevention, anti-doping education, the exchange of professional expertise, and the implementation of joint initiatives.
