A delegation led by Ignazio Cassis, Swiss Federal Councillor, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, who is in Armenia to attend COP17, visited the Matenadaran.

Accompanied by Kristine Tatarian, RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, and Hasmik Tolmajyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis explored exceptional examples of Armenia’s manuscript heritage on display at the Matenadaran Museum. He also visited the Restoration Department, the biochemical research laboratories, and the laboratories dedicated to the restoration and study of Arabic-script manuscripts.

At the conclusion of his visit, Ignazio Cassis made an entry in the Matenadaran’s guestbook, writing: “Today, it is with the greatest pleasure and deepest gratitude that I discover this collection, to which all humanity owes so much.”
