As part of the working visit to the Republic of France, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan had a meeting with French Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard.

RA ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to France Arman Khachatryan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming her counterpart, Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and the continued partnership, highlighting that culture is one of the key directions of Armenia–France relations. The Minister thanked France for the sustained cooperation, noting that bilateral cultural ties have significantly strengthened in recent years and hold considerable potential for further expansion.

The Minister highlighted the joint exhibition organized by the History Museum of Armenia and the Louvre Museum in Paris, describing it as a successful example of bilateral cultural cooperation.

Reference was also made to the state visit of the President of France Emmanuel Macron to Armenia, as part of which several cooperation documents, including in the field of culture, were signed. In this context, they reviewed the outcomes already achieved and discussed prospects for further expanding cooperation. Particular importance was attached to the partnership established between the National Gallery of Armenia and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The French side noted its interest in establishing cooperation between the Musée d'Orsay and an Armenian museum and expressed willingness to support joint initiatives.

According to Zhanna Andreasyan, such initiatives not only provide an opportunity to showcase the world's cultural heritage but also contribute to strengthening cultural dialogue between peoples.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for long-term cooperation between museums, organization of joint exhibitions, expertise exchange among museum professionals, preservation, restoration and digitization of collections, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the fields of cultural heritage preservation and management. The sides also discussed the professional development of young specialists, cooperation in contemporary art, creative industries, joint film production, literature, and translation projects.

Regarding cooperation within the framework of the Francophonie, Zhanna Andreasyan stressed that Armenia attaches great significance to this platform. She informed that Yerevan will host the Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Francophonie in July 2027, which will be followed by the 10th International Cultural and Sports Games of La Francophonie. As stated by the Minister, the experience and support of French partners would play an important role in the successful organization of these major events, which will provide Armenia with a unique opportunity to present its rich cultural heritage, contemporary art, and creative potential to the international community.

French Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard highly commended the ongoing cultural cooperation with Armenia and the outcomes of the joint initiatives, expressing her willingness to further strengthen collaboration in the museum sector, cultural heritage preservation, contemporary art, and cultural exchanges. She also highlighted Armenia's contribution to the Francophonie movement and expressed confidence that the upcoming events would be organized to the highest standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reiterated their commitment to further advancing cooperation in the field of culture.
