Science and higher education programs showcased in the COP17 Green Zone

October 21, 2026

Today, the pavilion of the ESCS Ministry, located in the Green Zone of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), showcased ongoing reforms in higher education and science, programs supporting scientific research, and the ‘Academic City’ project.

Representatives of the Higher Education and Science Committee introduced visitors to opportunities available through state funding and research grant programs, initiatives aimed at modernizing research infrastructure, and government policies designed to develop scientific capacity and expand international cooperation.

International guests were also informed about opportunities for scientists from abroad and the Armenian diaspora to become involved in Armenia’s higher education institutions and research organizations. These include programs supporting the establishment of research groups and laboratories in Armenia, postdoctoral research, and international scientific collaboration.

Young visitors learned about practical opportunities for students and early-career professionals to participate in cutting-edge research. Schoolchildren, meanwhile, were introduced to initiatives under the ‘Science at School’ program, including the ‘Armenian National School Science Festival’, ‘Science Week’ and ‘European Researchers’’ Night.

The pavilion also presented the work being carried out under the Academic City project to establish a modern, internationally aligned and competitive academic and research environment in Armenia.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport pavilion in the COP17 Green Zone is open from 19 to 30 October at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. Programs in science and higher education will be presented again on 26 October.
