October 24, 2026

The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra has performed a concert entitled ‘Symphonic Europe’ at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, celebrating the longstanding friendship and cultural ties between the Armenian and European peoples.

The concert was organized through an initiative of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia and the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.

“This wonderful initiative has, for the second consecutive year, become one of the key events in cultural cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. It demonstrates that culture is not only a means of preserving and promoting identity, but also a unique opportunity to bring peoples together, build trust and discover shared values.

Armenia and Europe share a rich cultural heritage, creative traditions and a profound respect for education and knowledge. Our cultural dialogue also offers an opportunity to shape our future together through new ideas, creative collaboration, the professional development of young artists and cultural innovation,” Minister Zhanna Andreasyan noted in her remarks.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, emphasized that the European Union and Armenia are closer today than ever before, adding that ‘Symphonic Europe’ has become an annual celebration that continues to strengthen and showcase the cultural ties.

“The European Union stands firmly by Armenia. This evening, let us celebrate the power of culture, art and music to bring us together,” he said.

The concert program featured a selection of outstanding works by European composers, showcasing a rich variety of musical styles and moods, from Beethoven’s dramatic ‘Coriolan’ Overture to the Overture to Verdi’s opera ‘Les Vêpres Siciliennes’ and Debussy’s ‘La Mer’.

The concert was conducted by Sergey Smbatyan. World-renowned pianist Alice Sara Ott performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.
