October 08, 2026
As part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the conceptual retrospective exhibition “Yervand Kochar: A Multidimensional Genius” (Tbilisi–Paris–Yerevan) has opened at the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery of the Georgian National Museum, with the support of RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and under the auspices of the Embassy of Armenia in Georgia.
On the eve of the exhibition’s opening, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, and Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan, accompanied by Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Natia Shamatava, visited the National Gallery of Georgia. They familiarized themselves with the preparations for the exhibition, its design, and the artworks to be presented. Zhanna Andreasyan wished the museum’s director, Karine Kochar, and the exhibition’s creative and organizational teams every success.
The exhibition will run from October 8 to November 8, 2026.
The conceptual centerpiece of the exhibition is Yervand Kochar’s innovative ‘Spatial Painting’. The project also incorporates contemporary technological solutions, installations, and other media, highlighting the enduring relevance and potential of the master’s forward-looking artistic vision.
Coinciding with the exhibition’s opening, a new trilingual illustrated book-catalogue, “Yervand Kochar: A Multidimensional Genius,” will also be presented in Armenian, Georgian, and English. Authored by Karine Kochar, the publication features valuable archival discoveries and newly uncovered documentary evidence from recent years.
The event is organized as part of the Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia, through cooperation among the Yervand Kochar Museum state non-commercial organization, the National Gallery of Armenia, the Center for the Experimental Art (NPAK/ACCEA), and the Georgian National Museum.
