Zhanna Andreasyan visits the pavilions in COP17’s Green Zone

October 19, 2026

From 19 to 30 October, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS) is hosting its own pavilion in the Green Zone of COP17 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.

In collaboration with organiզations within the Ministry’s system, the pavilion offers a range of educational, cultural, youth and sports events for the public. It is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Deputy Minister Anna Babajanyan visited the complex, toured the pavilions and learned about the projects on display.

Today, the MoESCS pavilion is showcasing the general education sector. In particular, students from ‘Ayb’ School presented their “From Ideas to Green Impact: Project-Based Learning for Nature and a Sustainable Future” project to the Minister. The National Centre for Education Development and Innovation presented the work of UNESCO Associated Schools, including the “Climate Box” program, with students actively participating in the presentation.

Zhanna Andreasyan noted that, with school holidays underway, students should be encouraged to engage with the programs featured in the thematic pavilions of COP17’s Green Zone. She emphasized that many of the events being held are an integral part of education and highlighted the importance of schoolchildren actively visiting the Green Zone during this period to learn about biodiversity challenges and the issues under discussion.

Encouraging the students present at the pavilions, the ESCS Minister noted that their project work was gaining greater visibility not only among Armenian audiences but also internationally. She added that this exposure could serve as strong motivation for students to develop and present new projects.

The Minister also visited other pavilions, including the pavilion of Armenia’s University Biodiversity Coalition, coordinated by Yerevan State University (YSU).

Throughout the day, various universities will present research on Armenia’s biodiversity, environmental challenges and initiatives involving young people.

YSU’s Faculty of Biology will present Armenia as an as-yet-unexplored biodiversity hotspot in the Caucasus, alongside research on the diversity of microorganisms found in Armenia’s caves.
